Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
- ribbon or cord
- lots of soda can tabs
- 1
Stretch out a strip of ribbon or a cord of your preference to get started on your soda can tabs necklace. Rough hemp can make a great male choker while soft, colorful ribbon makes a lovely woman's choker. Measurements will vary based on your own throat; start with a fairly long ribbon first and determine what size works for you.
- 2
Hold one edge of the ribbon up and place it through one of the holes as shown in the photo.
- 3
Bring the ribbon over the middle ridge on the soda can tab and pull it down through the other hole. The smooth side should be facing up. I have it shown upside down so you can see it more clearly.
- 4Slide the tab down part of the ribbon. Don't worry about placement too much, you can slide the pop tabs around easily.
- 5
Hold the edge of the ribbon up and pull it down through the hole of a second pull tab.
- 6
Pull the ribbon over the middle ridge and up through the second hole.
- 7
Slide the tab down to the first one. It should sit halfway behind the first pop can tab.
- 8Thread another tab like you did the first one and slide it down so that it sits on top of the other half of the second tab.
- 9
Repeat the process until the soda can tabs are long enough to circle your throat like a choker necklace.
- 10
To lock your choker necklace in place, pull the edge of the ribbon up and place it next to the last hole of the tab on its side, as shown in the photo.
- 11
Pull the ribbon through the last hole so that it loops over the edge of the soda can tab.
- 12
Pull tightly.
- 13Cut the ribbon long enough that you can make a bow or knot at the back of your neck.
- 14
Show off your foray into tabistry and your work with soda can tabs.
